This study aimed to identify the motivational strategies that are used in the classroom by English teachers in high school in Northern Iraq. The problem of the statement is the teachers' teaching strategies which influence the learners to be motivated in learning foreign languages. Some teachers do not have experience in using motivational strategies; this will be demotivation of the learners. For this purpose, we specifically investigated the types of the motivational strategies that lead by the English teachers in the Northern Iraq. Moreover, it aimed at finding the students' perspectives on their teachers teaching strategies. The study examined three research questions. As data collection tools, we used questionnaires. The findings showed that most of the teachers of English are not aware of the motivational strategies to motivate their students to learn the English language in an effective way. Meanwhile, most of the teachers agree with all the aspects of the curriculum. They thought that the curriculum was available for the students to be motivated in learning the English language. Meanwhile, the students stated that their teacher's techniques were not enough to motivate them.tr_TR
