Abstract: The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the relationship between divorce and parental alienation syndrome and behavioral problems. 70 people whose parents were divorced and 70 people whose parents were married participated in this study from İstanbul. Research data was collected through “The Baker Alienation Scale” developed by Baker, Burkhard and Albertson-Kelly (2012) and the “Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) developed by Goodman. According to the research findings, a significant and positive correlation was found between the Powers and Difficulties Questionnaire total score and the Baker Alienation Scale score (r = 691, p <.01). A significant and positive correlation was found between the total score of the Behavioral Problems Subdimension and the Baker Alienation Scale score (r = 548, p <.01). According to the standardized regression coefficient (β), the relative importance of predictive variables on alienation are behavioral problems, social behaviors, attention and mobility, emotional problems, peer problems. When t-test results related to the significance of regression coefficients were examined; behavioral problems, social behaviors, attention and mobility, emotional problems were found to be a significant predictor on alienation. Other variables had no significant effect.
